Undergraduate Researcher (Volunteer)

Undergraduate Researcher (Volunteer), May 2022 - August 2022

Prof. Steve Engels, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada

Description:

This position was as part of a research project and team under the supervision of Prof. Steve Engels, where we worked on developing video games for educational purposes. The project was targeted towards primary school children, and teaching mathematics. We worked in collaboration with Earl Woodruff’s Lab at OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education).

In this position, I developed a hyper-casual mobile game inspired by Frogger and Crossy Road in C# and Unity. The game’s educational component was to teach and reinforce arithmetic in children between the ages of 5-12.

As part of this project, I completed a comprehensive literature review to expand on the current research on methods of teaching through games, and maintained a technical development log for progress checking and documentation.
